Visconti Lava With Palladium Nib......

Well you might have seen on the general writing forum where I received a lovely package from our favorite dealer, Bry. Since then I have had a chance to ink up the Lava/HOmo Sapien. Mine has a fine palladium nib that I would compare to a stiff fine DaniTrio nib, although a slight bit wider. Love the feel of the pen in hand. Do like the bayonet closure vis-a-vis the Divine Proportions. The bronze trim is a bit of a kick that I certainly do like more than yellow gold. Overall the pen is lighter in weight than I would have anticipated but I do like the feel. Certainly going to fit into the daily user routine for me.

Might not be the pen for everyone but I do like it. Bear in mind, I never was a fan of the Van Gogh series of pens, they never did anything for me. Pardon the quick and dirty snaps, but as as I always say "a quick and dirty snap is better than no snap at all", or something like that.

Incredible pen, one of the best combinatios that I've seen of Visconti: Lava and Bronze

Congratulations and hope you could post a writing sample!

Nice one.

Is this going to displace the 4 wall streets from the daily rotation??

I would love to have a HS one day..... just it is not in the top of my wish list... only MB pens right now... I got the Visconti I wanted and until the next cool design or another Chatterley Visconti (the reloaded version  ) I'm not buying anymore.

Thanks that Bry sells a lot of MB pens!

However, your package is the Van Gogh series' (or other series) package, not the Homo Sapiens original... which was smooth black rubber outside, smaller, and without ink. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
