'cept it's a ballpoint. Anyone know of a similar fountain pen (aside from the Parafernalia)?

 

Second, why does no one in the US have the Lamy Alu (or St, or Linea)?

I love that too! But I just can't justify $100+ on a RB pen. maybe $35.

Those three plus the cp 1 and "logo" look very thin. I'm not sure such narrow pens are very popular here in the US. I couldn't use them.

 

those five all have a "rippled" grip which would be very uncomfortable for me.

 

The smile looks like a fun and comfortable pen. Fortunately for my bank account, the Studio has a metal section which I can't use.

The Studio Stainless Steel has a rubberized section, unlike the other Studios.

 

The cp1 has a diameter of 9 mm at the barrel and 8 mm at the section. The nib is a standard steel nib.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
