Dear Good Folks of FPN,

It was bound to happen. Just a question of when. Murphy Towers have now been assimilated by the FPN Admin Team...

Or did a member of Murphy Towers finally infiltrate the once-peaceful ranks of FPN’s Administration? We are not entirely sure yet.

Oh well… better to assimilate than be assimilated.

Please welcome Ruaidhri as the latest addition to the FPN Admin Team!

Hip hip… hooray!!

The FPN Admin Team.

Cheers and whistles! Welcome to the new role, Ruaidhri!

Isn't sanity really a one-trick pony, anyway? I mean, all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy . . . ooh hoo hoo hoo! . . . the sky's the limit!

Obviously I've been gone for a while. What the hell is Murphy Towers?

Hi Kendall,

Just search Chatter for Murphy, or MT. If you do like Monthy Pythonesque and/or Hitchhiker's Guide type of humour, I am sure you will enjoy... :D

Warm regards, Wim ;)

BTW, we tested Ruaidhrí last night, by arranging a hacker attack. He coped wonderfully well...

That might involve a very lengthy reply, in fact, if anyone was to make such a lengthy post then it might just overload the server. If you're feeling brave then venture into the chatter forum and see the madness that seems to be the ever evolving Murphy Towers.

Ruaidhri, congrats on the new appointment :) I just hope FPN knows what it might be letting itself in for. Just think what the staff meetings could be like if they're held at MT.

Ah, but it is Ruaidhrí who is just finding out what he's let himself in for!

Ruaidhrí? Admin? Oh, no, we're all doomed!

We must ask, is this what the battered 51s were for?

Will the babbage actually be running things from now on?

Will the sloes affect the brand forums?

Can Ernst be kept away from the Admin control panel?

And is Kissing's avatar to finally become toast!

Anyway....

Congrats Ruaidhrí. And thanks for volunteering. To the rest of the admin team - a very wise choice I think.

Good Choice, FPN will go from strength to strength with the power of MT Labs behind it.

I shall break out the special reserve Sloe gin in his honour!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
