I own 4 Watermans.

1 x hemisphere ballpen, nice shimmering green.
1 x of the most basic ballpens in the range, I forget its name. nice metallic blue
1 carene fountain pen in lagoon colour
1 a carene ballpen in matching lagoon colour.

The Carenes have become my pens of choice everyday, eclipsing the other pens in my huge collection. Now thats saying something. The laque colours are great and they write beautifully, especially the carene Fountain pen.

Anyone else love the Carenes as much?

2 Laureat fountain pens - one old style, one new. The Laureat is a wonderful pen - great value for the money!

1 Laureat rollerball. 1 Laureat ball.

2 Expert II ballpoints (one black, one marbled green).

1 gold propelling pencil - don't know the model.

2 Phileas ballpoints, 1 Phileas roller.

I think that's it...they are all good. Of the ball pens, the Waterman refill is one of the best, and very long lasting, like Parker.

Roller refill - ehhh - a mixed bag. Smooth while it lasts, but a kind of short life.

Sold two and bought one.

Sold my biggest and smallest:
I got rid of my Sapphire Blue Edson that I loved to look at and own but never carried or wrote with.
I also sold a little 52 1/2V Red Ripple with a flex nib that was just too small for me to use.

Picked up a sweet Waterman #7 Red Ripple, with red band and Red Keyhole Nib. The nib is fine and vintage style flexible.

I've got six waterman's three of them modern. What I'm really curious about (haven't found a google search on it anyway) is a chased black rubber pen with "18" over "PSF" on the base (or top) of the barrel, nib with Waterman Ideal New York "8" on it, sits 6 inches closed, barrel imprint "PAT'D 1884' "MAY 23, 1899", next line "WATERMAN'S", the IDEAL SYMBOL, "FOUNTAIN-"
next line "PEN.NY.U.S.A." "AUG.4.1903" . This is a monster when posted. I was wondering if it was a display pen or if people actually bought and used it.

Thanks for any advice.

Vintage: 52, C/F. I gave away an antique-store 52 1/2 to a friend; I also have a little Aikin-Lambert BCHR ringtop.

I have a Waterman Etalon in burgundy and with medium gold nib and trim, a work of art and a beautiful writer, purchased at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos Nigeria in 1999. Many fond memories when I use this pen.

I have just one Waterman ... a Black and Silver Hemisphere.
But I'm looking at getting a green/silver Expert Dune.
I just need to find someone that has one in stock so I can see how the size compares to what I have.

Five 55's, ten 54's, twelve 52's, ten 52 1/2's, seven Juniors, some Canadian, some US, some UK, some ringtop, some clipcap, some swirl, some not... two commandos, couple of 12's, some gold overlay 52's, some silver filigree 52's and 54's, some boxed, assorted demonstrators, jifs, patricians (wait, that's a ballpoint), several Exceptions (night and day, platinum, slim, etc) two experts and a Charleston I don't really want. Also, a big handful of what I take to be 1930-1950 era Waterman's with pretty finishes, but I don't know the model numbers of anything post-1925... rolleyes.gif

My brother gave me a Cardinal Red Patrician for my graduation in 1993. I bought the matching ballpoint a couple of months later.

Still love them.

Last Friday, I purchased my first Waterman - Carene with a fine nib. It is supposed to be charcoal but sometimes it looks blue. Nevertheless, it is so beautiful and I have it filled with Fahrney's Black Cherry ink - not too red, not too brown.
