For the last several years I have enjoyed my black-brown lacquer Gentleman with M nib.

Just bought my first fountain pen, a Waterman Hemisphere, stainless steel with a gold medium nib carrying blue ink. I'm still learning how to write with it, but it is a lovely pen :)

I don't know. I just found two Waterman pens in cleaning out my mother's apartment. How can I tell what kind they are? They are not the same. Thanks!

I have a Waterman 32 I purchased earlier from an extraordinarily helpful FPNer, with a wonderful flexy nib. Its a user model, and I bought it so I could begin to learn to write with a flexible nib, something I'm new to. He gave me a writing sample, a few tips, and I'm off!

Waterman's are a dream....beautiful looks and beautiful writing....

Waterman Hemisphere (Chrome) (Steel-M) (A gift-my first fountain pen!!)

Waterman Expert (dune green) (Steel-M)

Waterman Perspective (Steel-M)

Waterman Carene Silver Meridians (18K-M)

Waterman Exception slim black (18K-M) (X2)

Waterman Exception The Marks of Time Vermeil LTD ED (18K-M)

Definitely want to add to this collection...maybe a 2nd hand Edson 125 ans if somebody really wants to get rid theirs!! I don't own any of the classics either; the MAN 100 and Gentlemen look interesting.......

Hello, I'm relatively new to FPN, I read much more than I post.

In 1996 I bought a Waterman Phileas and fell in love with it.

Then circa 2005 or so a co-worker told me about the upcoming Fountain Pen show in Cary, NC.

I'm sure you can see where this story is headed. With only enough funds for one pen, I was overwhelmed by the thousands of pens for sale in the room.

With knowledge only of one brand, I decided to purchase a Waterman 52 woodgrain.

That began my lust for both modern and vintage pens, focused on, but not exclusive to Waterman's.

As of today:

52 woodgrain

94 mahoganey and cream set

32 red and gold

3 red and green

84 Ink-Vue silver ray set

84 Ink-Vue emerald ray

Deluxe Ink-Vue emerald ray set

Deluxe Ink-Vue Jet

5116 Ink-Vue green set

5116 Ink-Vue brown

Hundred Year Pen (1942) maroon ribbed

Commando black

Commando brown

Taperite black

Taperite Crusader red

Crusader black

Crusader red

C/F blue

C/F chrome (France)

C/F tortoise brown (France)

Modern:

Man 100 black

Man 200 black

(5) Phileas

(4) Carene

Charleston yellow

Charleston green

Exception oversize Day and Night black/gold

That's SOME collection! :puddle:

My current stock of Waterman fountain pens consists of 3 eye drop fillers, bhr 18,brhr 17, bhr 12.

I also have bhr 52 and a 52 1/2v ringtop.

I have a set of ink vue copper ray pen & pencil, but they both need clips.

Always looking for pens to complete. The passion is in restoration.

I've got a reliable stainless steel Hemisphere with medium nib. I really love this pen.

Last year I purchased several Kulturs, in medium and fine.

Recently I added 2 medium Phileas and what I believe is a Laureat 1 with fine nib. All three purchased together for a grand total of $42. They aren't pristine cosmetically, but write like a dream.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
