What are your favorite and not so favorite pen

Not asking about the performance or reputation of the pen brand or model

or even if you own one.

Just asking about the pen brand or model names.

I love "Dolce Vita"

On the other hand, I wouldn't have named a pen "Skipper" :P

I love most Parkers. The Sonnet and the Duofold being my favourites :)

I dislike "Iridium Point Germany" pens that are made in China <_< They are not even made in Germany AND nor do they have any iridium tipping on their nib!! I feel insecure using a pen that is not tipped with strong tipping material - They tend to wear out quicker.

like:

brand name - Pelikan of course (I love birds)

pen name - Serenite (because my life doesn't have it and I wish it did)

dislike:

brand - Montegrappa (sounds clunky)

pen - too many to list. Actually Tradition and Souveran are rather dull. but there are others that actually annoy me but I'm not awake enough to think of them at the moment.

My favorite pen is the Parker Duofold. I have a Pearl & Black Centennial and love it. I also think Omas and Sheaffer make great pens.

I have not had great luck with Watermans. I have used two that I liked but the nibs were both scratchy and found my hand getting tired quickly when writing with them. Also, I have never written with a Montblanc, but, for some reason, the brand just does not appeal to me.

I plan to live forever. So far, so good.

"Namiki Vanishing Point" sounds like an expensive pen, and "Pilot Capless" sounds like a cheap one -- even though they're the same pen! I have a couple of the cheap sounding ones...

It's like the difference between "Pre-owned" and "Used" :D

For vintage pens it is definitely a Sheaffer Snorkel or Touchdown and the Parker 51...

For new pens the Pelikan does it for me.

I'm just the opposite of goodguy. I love Lamys. Every Lamy I've owned from the basic Safari to the flagship 2000 have performed admirably for me. My least favourite? None that I currently own. If I don't like a pen, I just won't buy it.

I've never thought about this names question before! I guess my favorite pen names are Pelikan (I like birds) and Esterbrook (I just like the sound of it).

My not-so-favorite pen names are Conklin (because it reminds me of a person I used to know), Submariner (I don't know why, but I'd never own one), and Nozac (ditto).

Hey some you,

I was asking about NAMES of pens, not the pens themselves.:)

For instance, I love my Michael's "Fat Boy" pen, but i think the

brand name is a bit insenstive. If I were to buy a pen for any friend with

even one or two extra pounds, I would not be giving a "Fat Boy"!

I think 'Waterman' is a wonderful word, although their pens aren't among my favourites. When you say it, it gives the facial muscles a relaxing mini-workout.

It's hard to go wrong with a French name for your pen; Audace, Serenite, Place de la Concorde all sound wonderful.

Much as I love the Parker 51, and much as I appreciate why they chose the name, it does nothing for me, in the same way that cars which bear numbers rather than names don't appeal to me so much.

Numbers for product models are boooorrrrrring  Doesn't matter whether it is pens, cars, or bicycles. And some names sound so industrial or scientific: Expert, StarWalker, Tradition, Exception, E-Motion, Ambition, Duofold, Legacy, Epoch, etc.

But can you say Dolcevita? DOHL-chay VEE-tah Sweet!

Or how about Piazza Navona? pee-YAHT-zah nah-VOH-nah I never tire of that.

And Visconti? Stipula? Monteverde? Carene? Papillon? (no, not pap-ill-LON ;) )

I would buy a Visconti Venti Cappuccino. :P

Nozac sounds pharmaceutical - a combination

of No-Doz and Prozac.

Love the Edson, and I know it's a namesake,

but Edson? The old name and the streamlined pen just don't

jive for me.

My deco Cranberry teensiest pinky of a pen is called a "Maniflex". :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
