This is fantastic -- exactly what I've been looking for. I'm tempted to get the white felt lining to make it easier to see inside the drawers, but afraid it might get dirty. 2nd choice would be the burgundy lining. Is there anyone who has a white or beige lining who can comment on it?

I don't have that case, but I have another with off-white lining. It looks disgusting. You will not want to get a light colored lining because it'll look dirty very quickly.

Thanks, Brian! thumbup.gif That's just what I needed to know. I'll go with something dark. Burgundy or Black.

Just wanted to thank Stevlight for this thread and for pointing me in Geoff Morris' direction....awesome. I contacted Geoff and we discussed by email my wants. His website is simple and easy to navigate. You can pick the color of felt lining that you desire from his selection. 2 weeks later I have my cases!!

Here is a picture of my Built-in cabinetry in my home office, with my "collection" of pens in multple 8 and 10 pen glass topped cases, and other trays and cases..they are fine but were hard to stack and when you wanted a pen you had to unstack them yada, yada..the glass got dusty and dirty...all excuses for me to look for something better!! I wanted something simple, large enough to hold a ton of pens, and was not too expensive. I actually did not want a glass topped case any longer..a little too fragile for me. I had looked previously at some of the "refitted" wooden toolbox cases that some wood workers had made (ie: Gerstner and the like)...a little too big and bulky, and expensive.

Geoff's cases arrived, packed like Fort Knox (for you "out of towners" Fort Knox is where the USA stores its Gold reserves). He shipped them Tues 6/1 from England..I received them Thur. 6/3 in Ohio, USA, (I'm still waiting on a check for a pen mailed from California last week, simple USPS for a perspective!). I unpacked them and cleaned off the space in my Built-ins...

If anyone has ANY doubts about how cool these are..please let me erase those doubts. If you are looking for simple yet elegant, well made, easy transaction and wonderful communication, intantaneous shipping..look no further than Geoff Morris. No affiliation but just a very, very satisfied customer. I actually need one more to fill up the space in my Built-in cabinetry to make it complete!!!!

Stev already posted Geoff's website link but here it is again...

Talkinghead--that looks amazing--looks so nice in that space. These really are the best cases out there for the money. I looked at those toolbox pen cases also but for the same reasons said no--too big and too expensive!! These are much more elegant and affordable.

These look fabulous! If I could afford one, I would have him make some higher drawers so that I could keep pens and inks in the same place.

Wish list: Aurora Optima

You cabinet is AWESOME. And for the price it's an amazing deal as well!!!! If I could afford it, I'd be jumping all over myself to get it.

So I out grew my 3 cigar boxes for my pen collection and wanted something simple and functional and found it here at Pencase.co.uk

It was about $150.00 with shipping and is beautiful. Geoff Morris hand makes these to order and is a pleasure to do business with--fast email returns shipped DHL got here in like 2 days--amazing. I would order from him again in a second.

The case is simple and functional--I did not want a case with a glass top--I don't want anyone seeing the pens in the case when in my studio--then you get questions like" Wow are those expensive? How much do they cost? etc." This is a tool cabinet and my pens are tools. I love that the drawers come out so I can bring them to another table to work with them or make a drawer of pens being used for a specific project. I picked the brown felt and am glad --my mostly black pens show up nicely and it goes nicely with the wood. OK enough talk here are the pics---

The cabinet closed--

The big boys--all nine of my 149's and one 146--they all don't go in the cabinet--two usually at my desk --two in my bag but I wanted them all together in the drawer for a family portrait! HeHeHe

The Pelikans--I will be adding a Polar lights with B nib to fill out this drawer!

Mostly Japanese and a few Italians!

Vintage flex and an Edison Huron bulb-filler Flex--fantastic pen have to write a review for it!!

MY nostalgia drawer--first Shaeffer school pen and first Piston filler, a Burgandy Senator, two beat up vintage flexers I need restored--what nibs though! Two Namiki Falcons I really don't use as much but did use alot at one time and a Recife eyedropper--my ONLY eyedropper--may get a Herald Grande eyedropper from Brian at Edison pens though. Two nibs and a clip to my Pelikan M805 Condor nib pen --the clip gets in the way on the condor!!

The tray removed from the cabinet--what a GREAT design feature!!

So excited--I feel so organized now--this is a great product I would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks a lot!

Thank you for this review!

$150 is an excellent price for this handmade pen case! Just look at Venlo Pen Cases, similar product retails for $1800 (Ok, it holds 60 pens but for $300 you can get two from pencase.co.uk to hold 120 pens!).

Nice Collection! I noticed that some 149 and one M1000 have their pistons unscrewed. Is this a better way to conserve them?

Visit the other thread in this section here https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/158900-minimalist-handsome-pen-cabinet/ to see the same case in black. This is a new option that Geoff can provide - don't think it is on his website as yet.

thanks

I don't know if it is bad or good! I usually keep them that way after cleaning--so I know they are clean and with out ink.

Just another friendly bump for Geoff's cases. Received my third, (yes, number three!!) 7 drawer case. They fit perfectly in my space and match well. Have plenty of room for future pen purchases. (Don't know if that's a good thing? :bunny01: ) Will be selling my other pen cases now...

I ordered and received one of Geoff's cases just recently and love it! I have a 5 drawer, with the 5th drawer empty except for felt lining, for my glass pen. Mine has green felt. He does beautiful work and I too, am a happy Geoff customer.

I've got mine today, two of the deeper 5-drawer cases, walnut finish and burgundy felt. Very very nice.

(The only problem is: I am somewhat alienated by the orderly state of my desk.)

The whole process, from "first contact" to delivery to my door, took less than a week, and every step of the way was accompanied by Geoff Morris' throughtful and friendly emails (including photographs): a really pleasant transaction. Plus Geoff gave a discount on shipping costs for ordering two cases.

Thanks again, stevlight, for the heads-up.

I know this thread is over a year old but I wanted to ask you guys. Are the felt inserts removable? The reason I ask is because I'm wondering if, with the insert removed, you can fit some ink bottles in the drawers.

Thanks!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
