Where to find Rotring 600 EF?

Recommended Posts

I've recently been bitten by the fountain pen bug and have decided I'd like to buy a Rotring 600, preferably with the XF nib, but I've been unable to find them online anywhere. Medium nibs are plentiful and cheap, since they've been discontinued, and I've found an "F" or two on eBay, but no "XF".

Anyone know a source in the US for a 600 with an XF nib? Preferably the "old style" with the knurled grip, but I'll settle for the new style?

Alternately, if I buy one with an "M" nib, can I change the nib? Is there anywhere to purchase an XF nib?

Also alternately, suggestions for XF pens in the $60 range are welcome. I already have a Lamy Al-Star XF, which judging by the posts here is more of an "F". I'm looking for something with a thinner line than that.

Thanks for your help.

For a good modern Al Star priced XF, try the Hero 100. For a superb one, but a Sailor 1911 in F (but probably not off ebay, where you are likely to get a recycled demo pen).

If you haven't already, it's worth keeping an eye on this Ebay seller Lewertowski. I brought my 600 EF from him, at a very good price. Although he has no listing for an EF at the moment, it might be worth an email to him as he seems to have extensive stock. He's an extremely helpful, efficient guy.

No connection, etc etc.

Good luck! They're nice pens. :)

There's really nowhere to buy a 600 nib - better get the pen you want first.

Hero 100 is a good pen with a very fine nib for around $30.

Normally, someone might also recommend Waterman Phileas, but their nibs are really wide, so not what you want.

Hi,

Yes I have one or 2 in stock: NEWTON BLACK FP WITH XF nibs, not enough to list them on EBAY, if you want 1 you can bid on a BLACK NEWTON FP with Fine nib and I will ship the pen with the EF nib, best regards, J.M.Lewertowski

I bought an F Rotring 600 from lewertowski in December last year during Christmas season. The shipment was prompt even during the Christmas season.

Not related or any ties, just a satisfied customer.

By the way, I love the pen. It is my everyday take to work pen.

I had a fine 600 nib exchanged out for an EF by Rotring/Parker's service department. Fast and reasonable.

For what it's worth I've bought from Jean-Michel several times and was always VERY happy with the results.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
