Will the Vacs be as easy to dis-assemble/re-assemble as the 530?

Think he said already that it would NOT be. He said he won't be including the wrench but the 530's would work. He said unless there is an issue that needs fixed, you shouldn't take the vac apart.

Been lurking more than posting recently but I believe this picture sums up my sentiments perfectly..

(I can't freakin' wait, I held off buying the 530 because I really wanted a second vacuum filler, now there are pics out I'm starting to get antsy about it!)

You should have a name that TWSBI and you get one contest. ;)

In all seriousness, I just wanted to point out there are a couple additional directions that could be taken for a name:

TWSBI Diamond V700 and the 530 could become the P530. It could also be 700V and 530P.

The other option would be assigning either a two or four digit number to the vacuum system pens. It could be the TWSBI Diamond 70 or TWSBI Diamond 7000.

TWSBI Vac 700 is just fine with me, too. I frankly don't care what the pen is called as long as I have a name for it and one in orange. :)

i like the V700 and P530 names.

I still think Tony would be good, though. I don't know why more people aren't on board with this.

Come on Speedy. Just give it a name. Dylan, Rob, Spike.

Or name it after somebody famous who did something cool with a fountain pen. Or something cool from a movie.

LIke in Casino, with De Niro and Pesci, where Pesci plays a guy named Nikki and he stabs a guy in the neck with a pen.

So how's TWSBI NIKKI ?

But then we could only fill it with Antietem :(

Some ink in my TWSBI has made it past the seal. Is this a normal occurrence, and is there a video to help me with disassembling the pen? This is my first fountain pen, so I'm learning as I go.

2010/11/25 update

One of the major difficulty on manufacturying Twsbi Vac 700 is how to fabricate the crown and the clip. We were intend to use die casting method, but result turn out not satisfied. By tring several differenct solutions, it end up that we will use CNC turning to make the crown and clip by casting. Both of these two production process are expensive, but turn out very good result on quality.

Is this different than for te Diamond 530? If so, why?

On more higher end pen, many of them come with solid clip, instead of steel stamping clip. One problem of solid clip is that it is rigid without elastic, so a spring loaded mechanism is needed.

It is impressive.

In the colored 530's, the color is just light enough to see where the piston end is?

I seriously want the Blue Vacuum-filler. Such a pretty color. (A jewel-tone Green works for me, too.)

The red one is just gorgeous! Blue is lovely too. Clear is cool because then I can see my ink.

(Not even mentioning purple. *sigh* )

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
