The new pen project that I have mentioned for sometimes, finally the RD gave me the first design.

TWSBI Vacuum Filling System Fountain Pen.

Please review and give us your comments.

A more complex spring loading action clip design is used on this pen.

wow! I need to check with RD and have him calculate. But it seems it is not possible to filll this type of pe in full, so maybe the figure won't be correct isn't it?

We can figure about 2/3 fill so the theoretical ink capacity (barrel volume minus the volume of the filler mechanism parts) will be a good guide to how much ink this pen will potentially hold. Good work Speedy! Are you also thinking about a modern O-ring seals based multi stroke filler with a breather tube? it might hold more ink as compared to a one shot vac filler of the same dimensions.

Speedy,

 

One shot Vac filler is what you have shown. It is called "one shot" since you pull the plunger out, immerse the nib in ink and push the piston in fully, the barrel fills with ink in one shot.

 

The multi stroke filler with breather tube is the Parker Vacumatic system. but that pen used a rubber diaphgram. Instead of that, a very short-stroke, spring-loaded piston can be used with O-ring seals as has been demonstrated by a master pen engineer from Belgium whose FPN handle is Fountainbel. Multiple strokes will be needed to fill the pen fully.

I believe the use of Visconti's Ink Pot, which permits nib-up filling, allows near 100% filling of vacs.

Wow! I reall like this. These colors are pretty nice too. I really like the brown one, and the clear one is nice as well. The clear one has a different filling system, right? It looks maybe like a piston filler, which is great too.

Very nice pens. The triangular pattern on the plunger/turning knob is a good idea for griping; however, I believe it needs to taper more to the end as the current design gives the illusion of flaring at the end, even though I don't think it does.

all of these 4 pens use the same design, maybe because of the transparency effect so it was not clear on the picture.

this pen is with vacuum filling system, the piston filling one is our twsbi Diamond 530 model that is about ready.

That is a very good capacity and is equal to the capacity specified by Pilot for their Custom 823 Vacuum pens. When is this pen expected to hit the market?

I like the plunger-vac filling system, and I like the looks of the pen. I think the shape and colors look more modern (less stodgy) than, for example, a Pilot Custom 823. The shape reminds me of my Reform Czar, which is a favorite of mine.

 

I'd love to see it made with a titanium nib, at least as an option.

I have only one cheap demonstrator with spring loaded cap, and the ink always splatters on the inner cap when I cap or uncap the pen. Is this likely to happen for the vacuum fill pen? If so, I'll prefer a twist cap. In my limited experience, the twist cap also prevents ink from drying out better than the spring loaded cap.

Looking to the pics, the cap seems to be a twist one.

 

I assumed Speedy was referring to the design of the CLIP.
