FPN Software Upgrades and Fixes

Admin

Recommended Posts

Dearest Members of the Fountain Pen Network,

We will be doing some maintenance tonight, around 7 pm EST, 24:00 GMT / UTC in order to fix some minor issues. This implies that the board will not be available for approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Furthermore, tomorrow morning, Wednesday 2010-01-20, an upgrade to the forum software will be carried out, in order to fix a few further problems. This will happen around 2 or 3 am EST, 07:00 or 08:00 am GMT / UTC, and the outage may last for about 3 to 4 hours.

In the mean time, early this morning we have completed a few server software upgrades necessary to be able to continue receiving support, and to fix the image attachment problems. As a matter of fact, attaching images works again biggrin.gif.

Anyway, please be patient with us while fixing and updating at the indicated times, in the end it all serves a better experience here on this board.

Warm regards,

Thank you for all the work that you do, and especially for finding a way to fix the image attachment problem!

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

Now the News page looks funny. So do the other pages.

How so?

Individual topics within the forums looked okay, but the forum pages themselves displayed only the name of the last poster on the thread, nothing else.

Don't know if this has been corrected yet, and I only noticed it around 9PM EST.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I found out that there was about a 10 minute period where some settings were being adjusted and caused some glitches.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
