Merry Christmas to you all!

Getting a set of S T Dupont Defi - FP/RB/BP and Multi.... now looking to get a 4-pen pouch to go with the set ;-)

Dont really want to have the " D " in front of the case to be too "loud" :-)

Just a simple plain leather case would do... your recommendations are much appreciated :-)

Thanks

How much do you plan to spend? I tend to avoid any thing Dunhill or ST Dupont for small items like this-the product is mediocre at best and the price is always high.

Yes... totally agree with you... how much? I am open to suggestions... probably between $50-$100. I want as plain as possible :-)

Thanks and looking forward to see your recommendations.

I use this Curtis 3 Pen case for my larger pens. The 2 and 3 pen cases that Paradise Pen has I think are actually Ashton's, they're also made very well but are tight for larger pens. Check around I happen to purchase these from Paradise pen because there is one maybe 15 minutes from me but you can find similar by Ashton, or Curtis else where.

You should check out the Aston pen wraps or zippered cases.

Any suggestions for a pen case for a really long pen (6.5")?

That Chatterley Chatsworth Pen is really long.

Yep. Got mine today and it doesn't fit (length-wise) in any of my cases--it even pokes out of the top of my pen wraps! I'll let you know if I find a case long enough.

Thanks Montblanc cases are the best. even for the money. Better to spend a little more(the authorized dealers have them to discount) than buy a cheap yet inferior one. The Pelikan cases are of poor quality as are the the others I bought at Joon pens. I have one from Paradise Pens but it does not easily accomodate a Montbl Le Grand, etc. Faber Castell makes some but I will only buy Montblanc. It is more than twice as good as something costing half the price. If you buy both, you will see the difference.

Cigar cases....I have one being sewed up. A three cigar case bought in a flea market. The edge needed sewing, and I wanted the bended leather between the "cigars" sewed up, so pens would not bang each other.

I feel that a 3er case fits a shirt pocket better than a 2'er.

The top of the case pulls up, and there will be three pens.

You can with luck find one with four or order one with four....even real alligator.

There is a com....I'd clicked it on a couple of months ago. Being cheap I decided to look in flea markets first.

You will of course need a real shirt...one with pockets...and hell if you order from Land's End, you can get a monogram on your pocket....add a little class to your common sense.

I know this is sort of old fashioned...shirt pockets...but by golly, you can actually clip a naked pen or two into a shirt pocket.

My favorite pen case is one by Coach leather. It's large, has a little padding and has held up under regular use for almost 10 years now. It holds two pens, and I bought it in a Coach outlet store.

I don't see it listed on their web site anymore, but a used one might be available. It's so much nicer than any of the others I've seen.

If I needed a new leather pen case now, I'd check out Fountain Pen Hospital. They always have cases by a few different makers including Pelikan. The Pelikan cases I have are nice and they fit the largest of my pens. If you visit them you might find something really cool, like the 'rouge et noir case' I picked up on one trip. It is black leather with brilliant red sides. Holds just one pen but was discontinued and very inexpensive.

I agree with the Aston recommendation. My favorite pen case is a black Aston one with room for three pens: leather, solid, boxy, with separate compartments for the three pens - and well-made enough to withstand a few years (so far) of riding around roughshod in my bag every day. My second favorite is an old Coach pen case - the leather looks like an old football!

This is what I use. It's a Levenger leather bomber wrap.

  • 5 years later...

It's a nice case but, yes, pens will fall out. Can't understand why Levenger would switch from their old design...

I'm fond of the Pelikan leather single-pen cases. The few (9) pens I own all are kept in one of these. None of my pens are Pelikans,........but.........

I have used this type of case since the early 60s & never had a serious mishap with any pen. Dropped a case once & had a cap full of ink,... that's all.

The cases are not crush proof, but under sensible handling conditions, they'll provide more than adequate protection to the writing instruments. Even if the front flap is not placed under the Pelikan case's band (as in the image above), the pen does not fall out.

These embossed bands come in either green or black leather, the body of the case is black.

At a glance I can tell which pen has a stub nib & which a cursive italic. In the picture, the nib's a stub.

These Pel cases for one, two or three pens are relatively inexpensive. A single-pen model is under 40.00 USD.

Just realized that I had posted to a necro (2009) thread.

No matter,... my recommendation of the Pelikan pen cases still stands.

'Bruce-YVR's statement: "The Pelikan cases are of poor quality....." has not been my experience.

I've bought eleven leather Pelikan cases in the one & two-pen style. All of them were made of quality leather with neat, accurate sewing. Worth the price.

I have the leather 3 pen Pelikan and Montblanc cases and much prefer the Pelikan...leather much softer and richer looking. Have you considered the Franklin-Christoff pen cases? Very nice, well built and reasonable cost.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
