Slowly but surely, I'm getting things done ready for the Pen Show on Saturday! :cloud9:

I don't think that I've ever had such a full stock of vintage pens prior to the London show!

The people at Onoto, are very pleased with their example of the Magna Plunger-filler with the cap overlay, so it will be on show on this coming Saturday. :P

The Bruno Corsini pens will also be on show at my stand, I'm pleased to say!!! You never know, I might even sell one!

I'll keep you 'posted.'

OK....so as soon as eyes open over there a show report would be most appreciated....bunny01.gif

We heard from some on the show thread that it was a good show for some and not so for others....mellow.gif

Hopefully the Truffle is in the former group! clap1.gif

Anyone get pics? puddle.gif

As you are pretty aware by now, I still do not have the knowledge yet, regarding posting pictures on here! So the best I can do, is to tell you how the Pen Show was from my point of view.

My trusty assistant Tim and I arrived shortly after 8.00am, and were set up by 9.00am, so I took the opportunity to nip round, and take a few photographs, before the doors were opened to the public, most of the people didn't seem to mind me doing that, so hopefully some will start to appear here within a short time!

By 10.30am the public started to come in, and I am pleased to say that my stand became fairly busy within about half an hour, and from then on, both Tim, and I were kept on our toes for the rest of the day. As well as quite a number of vintage fountain pens selling, five of my overlay pens sold, three of which will have to be sent to their new owners, after the money side of things have been settled, [one of the draw-backs of not having a credit card facility!]

Quite a few people from the FPN introduced themselves to me, which was really nice, it was strange, it was like meeting people that I actually already knew, in a strange kind of way! :hmm1:

The originator of this thread [GWP.] came by with his wife, and their delightful daughter, which was especially good, as the last time I had seen them was this time last year, at the pen show in Kensington! We have promised each other that we will go out for lunch soon!

Well, that's about it for now, I have got the day off today, although, I don't doubt that I will find some 'pen-related' things to occupy some of the day, as I did buy a few 'goodies' during the course of the day!!! :P :P :P

I made it down to London and took a few snaps for you of Henry and his pens, along with the new Magna Plunger Filler from our friends at ONOTO. I didn't take any of my pro-gear along so these images are taken with the family compact only! Here's a few highlights...

This is the new Magna Plunger Filler with Simpole overlay! It's alongside another plunger prototype....

It certainly was a busy event, perhaps the busiest I can recall in recent years. Henry will no doubt give some commentary to some of the images.

And finally for now here's the latest portrait of the new, mk 2 hairy version of Mr Simpole..!

Gee! Thanks Neal!

Yes, that is indeed the Onoto Magna Mammoth Plunger filler Fountain Pen!

The second shot is the London Pen Sow, with a heck of a lot of pen fanciers mooching around looking at their favourite 'eye-candy!'

The third picture is my table at the said show, and my personal collection of Conway Stewart Dinkie Pens, aren't they lovely little things!?

Are these the only photos you took then Neal?

Thanks for posting them Neal!

Sorry Neal, I must have written that last posting while you were doing the business with some more pictures!  After the Dinkies, there is a small selection of ribbons which one is meant to attach the said Dinkies around one's neck, [bought at the Dallas Pen Show!]

The next one is a selection of the Bruno/Henry Pens, one of which is now owned by somebody else!

Then there is a picture of some more examples of my overlaid pens!

Then there is someone trying to look nonchalant wearing a Van-Dyke beard and moustache! [Personally, I think he VVas an unter-cover infiltrater!!! But vee are keeping an eye on him!!! :hmm1: :hmm1: :hmm1:

PS. Thanks for doing the posting Neal!

Having spent about 3hrs 20 minutes watching Lawrence of Arabia yesterday afternoon, [and nipping back to the workshop during the ads:] I managed to do the repairs to most of the few pens that I bought at the pen show, [before it had got so busy!] So all in all, it was a very good day, quite 'laid back' really!

That video is quite good isn't it? Although I think that the camera man ought not to have whistled in the background, while he was filming near the end!!! [Just an observation!]

Well, today promises to be a productive one, I've got pens to send off to various people, and my car insurance needs re-newing, reminding me that I am back in the real world! :blink

Just an after thought, I met a lady on Saturday at the show, who said that she was reluctant to actually 'register' on to the FPNetwork, because she realised that it is so 'addictive!' All I can say, is 'Go for it!' You'll really enjoy it! :W2FPN: Hopefully, she will be joining the WES soon! There's nothing like getting involved!

Today is just getting better and better!

This morning, a gentleman who had been speaking with me at the pen show, and had spent quite a long time trying out vintage pens with my able assistant Tim, E-mailed to tell me that he hadn't been able to get back to see me before the end of the show! Well, he told me that he had decided to go for two of the vintage pens, and one of my overlaid pens!

Another gentleman has just been on the telephone to tell me that he wants the Bruno/Henry pen that he had been looking at, at the show!

So, it turns out that this year's show was indeed a very good one!!! :P

Who's a happy bunny den? :P :bunny01:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
