I am not saying this guy is a scam artist, but there is something about this auction that does not ring true...

First look at the 5th picture down... anyone ever heard of a Parker 51 with a barrell marking that said Parker Victory and ever more interesting lengthwise on the barrell...

Then check out the guys feedback... and click on some of the auctions.. all a series of ??????????? for title and description

NOW I am not someone to call another person a crook without more proof than what I see there, but I find this one strange...

It seems that there are a lot of auctions lately at better than sumgai prices coming out of the orient.... and usually from sellers with feedbacks like this one...

Interesting. I also notice that almost every purchase only has "1" on the hit counter. A few have 4 or 5 hits.

Looks to me like this person may have set up some dummy transactions to get a 100% rating.

Wonder if this should be reported to ebay security?

I just happened to see another auction from this person for a Sheaffer Triumph pen/pencil set, supposedly in working order, for a mere $30 buy-it-now. Very suspicious.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776

Yes, the sellers on the other transactions all have 0 feedback ratings, and the descriptions are all blank.

Feed back all left within a couple of minutes today and Seller has left no feed back for others.

Does not pass the sniff test.

One ink to find them,

One ink to bring them all

One ink to rule them all,

and in the darkness bind them..

Feedback from sellers with no feedback themselves. Plus all the feedback left within the space of 10 minutes. Definitely dodgy. I looked at the other items for sale and recognised a couple of the Conway Stewart auctions.

Conway Stewart 540

auction link for a CS from the seller Old Griz has highlighted.

Snap, here's the genuine auction.

Conway Stewart 550

Again, auction from our Chinese Seller.

Then the genuine auction.

Pilot Murex

Our Chinese Seller

Snap with an auction from Taiwan. Wonder if this is the same person if you look at the feedback. I guess the genuine auction in this case is the Italian one below.

Or you could try the same pen from Italy.

Parker Victory

Here's the auction from the Chinese Seller.

Snap with another auction from Taiwan.

Here's the genuine auction.

Edit - I was correcting my links, but looks like the Chinese auctions have been pulled. At the moment the Taiwanese ones are still live.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
