Lamy Persona

I'm considering a Lamy Persona, but have not been able to find much in the way of impressions. Anyone have any to share?

I have a couple of personas that i acquired when i first got into fountain pens about 2 years ago. You can pick one up these days at a reasonably low price and they are great pen, but a bit on the heavy side. They have a really neat pocket clip that hides into the cap, but that at times can make the pen roll off the desk so need to be careful with that. Overall a good solid reliable pen with a classy design and the expected Lamy quality. Hope it helps a bit

I have a medium nibed one.

Writes great.

Good flow.

A little tooth.

Main problem is that the "titanium oxide" outer casing will sand any other pen it rubs against! (i.e. "does not play well with others!")

Definately needs a pen case, or get the Silver version.

Glenn-SC, can you compare the nib with a Lamy 2000? I assume it would use the same convertor as a safari?

Come to think of it, I have all three.

I like the size and grip and the nib better on the Personna than on the 2000.

Don't get me wrong, I like my 2000 too.

The Personnal has a little more flex and is a bit smoother.

That's what I was hoping to hear. :)

It is a big pen, though smaller than my densho. I really do like the modern pens ...

Probably it won't. Safari uses LZ24 converter, Persona - LZ25.

Hmm. On Swisher's site I see:

LZ24 for Safari, Joy, AL-Star

LZ25 for Accent, Persona 23

LZ26 for Logo, ST, Linea, CP1, Alu, Lady, Persona

So I guess it would be an LZ26. On theinkflow.com's site, I see this picture (H, I, and J are the LZ24, 25, and 26). The LZ26 looks big. That's nice. ;)

Except that I got the pen in today **Yay**, and the included instructions called out a Z25. The Z25 convertor has a feature that I like: it screws into the nib section.

Actually, the pen itself has many neat features. This is the only Lamy pen I know of with a screw-on cap. To screw on the cap though only takes 1/4 turn.

I'm very pleased with the aesthetics of the pen. I like the flat end and rounded cap, and the way the cap gives a precise click when posted. It also writes very smoothly in the few minutes I've used it. I'd like to put together a review after getting more experience with the pen.

Well... informations on web are sometimes a bit misleading ;)

Hmm... I wonder what the Persona 23 might be :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
