I understand that most American schools no longer teach cursive writing. There will be generations of people who cannot read script...doesn't that make them illiterate?

    No,since it has nothing to do with them being unable to read only, it just means they can not read cursive. Many of us can not read the cursive writing of some adults who were taught cursive writing.
