I will add here, for completeness, I did deliberately order my trio of Metropolitans from the US to be certain I would be getting the model with the ordinary Pilot cartridge / converter. All Pilot pens in this home take Pilot thingys cos I do not need to add any more confusion to that which I already suffer...  

Having recently seen a listing for another 75 in ‘Grain d’Orge’ with a ‘IE’ PDC, I am now fairly certain that my own pen dates to Q3 of 1984, and not to Q3 of 1988.   The one whose sale-listing I saw recently had a ‘wide band’ gold-plated nib collar, rather than the steel/chrome-plated nib collar that is on my pen. I know that those were introduced as a new-model of the grip-section that was replacement for/‘upgrade’ from the ones that had steel/chrome nib collars, so this strongly sug
